Supporting local writers since 1947

Writing is a solitary pursuit

Writing can be a lonely business but the good news is that a writing group is often a great source of support.

There is nothing more valuable for a writer – whether aspiring or more established – than receiving an objective view on their work from a careful reader. It’s gold dust.

Spend time with fellow writers

“You need other writers. To share your work with and receive valuable feedback on. To be with a trusted group of fellow writers struggling with the same problems, striving for the same goals is such a great feeling. And part of a peer support network which is essentially what the writing group is reinforces that fact that I am a writer.”

Whether you are already published, just starting our or everywhere in between, there's something here for you.

You'll get an objective view

There is nothing more valuable for a writer – whether aspiring or more established – than receiving an objective view on their work from a careful reader. It’s gold dust. It’s not only what the reader notices, it’s the fact that they've read it.

You'll develop your critical skills

Another key advantage to being part of a writing group is that you learn to read in a completely new way. When you read for a writing group you are looking to make that piece of writing better.

It's social and enjoyable

The secret to a successful writing group is that it is enjoyable. The members all have something in common, their writing, which is a good starting point.
