Joining a writers group will help you get back to writing
If you’ve struggled to get words on a page for months, or even years, coming to the group even without anything to share it may just spring you back into action.
Some external accountability
We all have to self-motivate to write, but even the most productive writers sometimes need a push to get something finished. As writers we all procrastinate or have to work hard to push through it. Being in the group will help you decide what kind of writer you want to be, hopefully one that finishes projects.
The motivation to become a better writer
The critical but constructive feedback, the encouragement and friendly competition is the oil to the grinding hard work of writing.
Inspiration
Hearing other writers work-in-progress, watching their progress and see how they overcome all the same frustrations with a writing life that you have is great education. And members of the group are always willing to share any tips or tricks they have including how to get a publishing deal.
And it’s fun
It’s serious stuff listening to other writers works and giving thoughtful feedback and it can be hard to listen to when its your turn but overall its an evening of time spent on your passion with fellow writers. Our group knows how to be serious and how to lighten the mood.
